Teacher's Forum

Welcome!
If you haven’t already discovered this wonderful new program, Travels with Music, it is available online to anyone in any country (aged 5-95) who gets excited about experiencing other cultures, peoples, and traditions (come join our adventure at www.travelswithmusic.org.

Only after completing production and launching this program (about two months ago), did we discover that TWM, as we now call it, really gets people excited if they happen to be teachers! Most especially teachers of social studies, geography, history, sociology, world cultures, and arts – but even natural science teachers, language arts teachers, math teachers (and, of course, music teachers) all find that TWM is an ideal tool for integrating all of the core curriculum subjects, while encouraging cross-cultural communication and an appreciation of diversity in today’s communities where all teachers and students live.

Since TWM has already been adopted for use in many schools nationally and internationally, at a variety of age or academic levels, we decided there should be a Teacher’s Forum and TWM community where all of you can communicate with each other or ask questions of the team that produced TWM: a creatively enthusiastic group of teachers, ethnomusicologists, sociologists, professional musicians and production folks, worldwide.

Those teachers/schools that are already using the program can hopefully:
1) give us your feedback on Series One and suggest any changes or additions in the structure for Series Two (our next set of countries/cultures to explore!)
2) share how you are applying this adjunct cross-curriculum and multi-cultural resource in your particular lesson plans, and at what age level (TWM is designed with several levels of experience and literacy in mind, and has been used very successfully, in different ways, at kindergartens, grade schools, home schools, middle schools, high schools and colleges)

Those of you who might be thinking about adopting the program can ask questions of other teachers who are, or share thoughts of what you would consider to be the ideal cross-cultural program that you would wish to implement in your particular community!

This is your web page and your blog. Join in the adventure and write us!
Also, let other teachers/schools know that this program exists and is available to them at a cost that we hope makes it possible for all schools in all countries to be able to benefit from the TWM program. Help us to change the world one student at a time, by together encouraging cross-cultural understanding and communication.

With the master-musicians of each culture as our guides, this interactive audiovisual experience can help us to appreciate living in a world where we celebrate the richness of our landscapes and the beauty of our diversity. In today’s political climate, those seeking for a positive solution should ask nothing less of us.
